Watering Can

Year 2010
Client Wallpaper*

Watering Can was commissioned by Wallpaper* magazine for its experimental exhibition, Handmade, at the Salone del Mobile in Milan in 2010, with a brief to reappraise an everyday object and create a one-off hand crafted piece.

  • 45

The indoor watering can is a familiar object within the home. Its form little changed in recent times and typically spending the majority of its life static on a windowsill, this seemed an ideal functional piece to reconsider.

  • 46

Watering Can was handmade in stainless steel by British craftsmen, with the welds polished out, the exterior sprayed a bright shade of orange and the interior polished to a mirror finish. The oversized funnel was designed to aid filling and to double as a handle.
